This is a good time of year to be on Pit River as the temps start to drop the fish start to get active a little bit later in the day. Before the flow changes we used to see good numbers of October Caddis and Isonychia. They were pretty much wiped out with the flow changes. Pit River Fishing Report: August 2019
The weekend of August 10th & 11th the flows were raised to 1500 cfs for white water recreation. After the flows were brought back down the fishing was a little sketchy. But things are back to normal now and the fishing is good.This river at this time of year can follow the pleasant time of day theory. Pit River Fishing Report: July 2019
Currently the Pit River is fishing well. Heat can really affect the Pit River so you will really need to pay attention to the type of water you are fishing.Get out of the slower water and look for water with a higher oxygen content and moves faster.Water that is breaking over rocks and forming plunge pools is a good bet, for fish that are hanging on the bottom.You may want to use a little more weight than normal.
