McCloud River Fishing Report: July 2019

Flows on the McCloud are running normal for this time of year.

With this heat coming on you will need to be a little more patient than normal. This means fishing a run a little longer than the norm and changing fly’s often.

If I find the fish are being stubborn, I will change flies’ multiple times in the same run.

There are good numbers of bugs coming off in the evening so pick one and stay with it until you find one the fish like.

The road to Ash camp is closed just past the cut off to the road leading to the conservancy so it will require a hike to get to the river below McCloud dam and Ash Camp.

Top Flies:
PMD, Caddis, Dark lord, Gordon Amberwing prince, Golden Stone adult and nymph, Stone fly.
