This is a good time of year to be on Pit River as the temps start to drop the fish start to get active a little bit later in the day. Before the flow changes we used to see good numbers of October Caddis and Isonychia. They were pretty much wiped out with the flow changes. Last year I did for the first time since 2011 see a few in the system. But as always I have fished the October Caddis and Isonychia and keep some on hand just for this time of year.
Some suggested flies:
- Birds nest
- Black AP
- Small Rubber Legs
- Micro May Fly
- Caddis Larva
- Light Tan Caddis Dry
- Red and Black Copper Johns
- Gordon Prince
